RICHMOND, Ky. (EKUSports.com) – After recording a season-high 15 tackles for the second time this season and securing an interception that led to an EKU score to defeat Tarleton 41-35 in double overtime, graduate linebacker Logan Blake has been named the Stats Perform FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week.

Blake is the first Colonel to be named a national player of the week for EKU this season. He was named the United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago after his first 15-tackle performance against North Alabama.

A native of Lizton, Ind., Blake has totaled a team-leading 68 tackles this season and has two interceptions, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and 4.5 tackles for loss totaling 11 yards. He's recorded nine or more tackles in all six of EKU's games.

His 68 tackles rank first in the UAC and eighth in NCAA FCS football. As of Monday, Oct. 16, EKU sits atop the conference standings with a 2-0 record in league play in its inaugural season.

Blake and the Colonels return to action this Saturday as the team heads to Boiling Spring, N.C. with a date against Gardner-Webb. EKU is looking to avenge its loss to the Runnin' Bulldogs from last year's FCS Playoffs in Richmond.
