#UACFOOTBALL -- The United Athletic Conference (UAC) announced its inaugural class of All-Academic selections as voted on by the league's Athletic Communications football contacts on Monday, with Austin Peay's
Maddux Trujillo named the UAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2023 season.
The UAC All-Academic team included 11 student-athletes and the honorees selected represented five different programs. The prestigious group boasted eight members with a 4.00 cumulative GPA.
Trujillo, the Govs' junior placekicker with a 4.00 GPA in finance, was a 2022 CSC Academic All-District Selection and has been on the Dean's List in all four semesters of his academic career at Austin Peay. Named to the 2023 Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award Watchlist, Trujillo ranked 17th in the FCS and third in the UAC with 87 total points scored. Trujillo topped the UAC with 48 made PATs while ranking 22nd in the FCS and fifth in the UAC with 13 total field goals made. He also earned the OVC Academic Medal of Honor during his freshman year in 2021-22.
Student-athletes nominated for the UAC All-Academic team must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA, have participated in 90 percent of contests during the season or be a starter in 66 percent of contests and must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically.
