#UACFOOTBALL -- Leading teams to victory with dominating performances in all three phases of the game were the key factors in the choices for the United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football Player of the Week award winners announced on Monday afternoon by the league. Stephen F. Austin boasted a pair of selections in Kylon Harris (Offense) and Chris Campos (Specialist) after an explosive offensive output while EKU's Logan Blake (Defense) and Austin Peay's Garrett Hawkins (Freshman) led strong defensive efforts in wins by their squads.
Harris, a sophmore wide receiver, finished with career high 11 receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns in the Lumberjacks 56-27 win over Texas A&M Commerce. The outing marked his second straight game with over 100 receiving yards and third consecutive game scoring a touchdown. Harris' three-touchdown night was also the most by a Lumberjack receiver since Xavier Gipson in 2021.
A graduate linebacker for EKU, Blake had another incredible week on the defensive side of the ball by stuffing the stat sheet with a season-high 15 tackes (7 solo, 8 assist) while also collecting one fumble recovery, one QB hurry, one pass breakup and 0.5 tackles for loss. His stellar effort helped lead the Colonels to their second-straight victory and first-ever UAC win.
Campos, the junior placekicker for the Lumberjacks, was a perfect 8-for-8 in PATs. Late in the third quarter, he attempted and recovered his own 11-yard onside kick which led to a Jacks touchdown. Campos is a perfect 21-for-21 on the season and 141-for-143 in his career.
A freshman linebacker from Sevierville, Tenn., Hawkins stepped up and led the Govs defense with a career-high nine tackles after being forced into increased action during the road victory over Lindenwood. Six of his nine stops were solo tackles and his tally marked the most by an APSU freshman this season and matched the sixth-best single game mark of the campaign.
