WEEKLY AWARDS | Season's Final Honors Include Record-Breaking Efforts

Week 13 selections feature APSU duo, ACU and SUU difference makers

#UACFOOTBALL -- The final Saturday of regular season United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football play was filled with many explosive performances with several recognized by the league office on Monday as Player of the Week honors. Award winners included multiple-time recipients, Austin Peay's Chris Parson (Offensive) and Kamari Maxwell (Freshman), along with first-time honorees, Southern Utah's Lando Brown (Defensive) and Abilene Christian's Tyson Williams (Specialist).

Parson, the Govs dynamic redshirt-sophomore quarterback, set the Austin Peay single-game total offense record with 487 yards against Tarleton State, total also was best in the UAC this season and eighth highest total in FCS this year. He rushed for an APSU single-game quarterback record of 194 yards including a pair of touchdowns, while going 17-of-30 for 293 yards in the air. Parson tossed a career-best four touchdown passes against the Texans and matched his career-high of six touchdowns responsible for. He also recorded his first-career reception with a 15-yard catch.

A dominating redshirt-senior defensive end, Brown posted an incredible game on Saturday against North Alabama racking up a team-best 11 total tackles, including three TFLs. Brown added to his league-leading 14 sack total with two more versus the Lions.

Williams, a junior defensive back and return specialist, electrified the crowd returning a punt 71 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter to extend the Wildcats lead over Central Arkansas. His score marked ACU's first special teams touchdown of the year and its first punt return for a score since 2023. Williams' return touchdown was part of Abilene's 29-point third quarter rally, going from down 21-13 at halftime to leading 42-21 headed into the fourth quarter.

A true freshman wide receiver, Maxwell had a career-day against TSU with three catches for 65 yards and three touchdowns. His three touchdown catches matched the sixth-best single-game performance in program history and equalled the squad's best single-game mark of the season. Maxwell’s first touchdown was an eight-yard reception to give the Govs a 14-7 lead. On APSU’s next possession, Maxwell had a career-long 45-yard touchdown reception to give the Govs a 21-7 lead in the first quarter, then caught a 12-yard touchdown in the second quarter to put the Governors back up by 14 points.
