Top teams look to keep in line for title in Week 12

UACFOOTBALL -- With only two weeks remaining in the regular season, United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football competition races down the home stretch with several teams maintaining opportunities of earning a share of the conference crown. For the first time since Sept. 20, all nine league members will see action on the gridiron.

- Week 11 Recap: No. 18 Abilene Christian moved into a tie atop the UAC standings following a decisive home win over Utah Tech... Coming off a bye, West Georgia outlasted North Alabama for a big road victory... Austin Peay kept in the hunt for a playoff bid and share of the league title after topping Central Arkansas in an offensive showcase, 41-38... Southern Utah claimed its fourth consecutive win after handing EKU a home loss

NOTEWORTHY
- In the latest FCS National Rankings, the UAC saw five teams collecting votes in the national polls with the UAC's Texas twosome ranked in the Top 25... Tarleton State improved to No. 5 (AFCA)/No. 6 (Stats Perform) after enjoying its final bye of the season - In addition, the Texans were also listed No. 5 in the second and final in-season FCS Championship Committee ranking. Abilene Christian remained No. 18 (Stats Perform)/ No. 20 (AFCA) while West Georgia returned to the Top 25, earning the No. 24 spot in the AFCA poll... The Wolves were joined by Austin Peay and Southern Utah in garnering votes for the polls

- Austin Peay (6-4, 4-3 UAC) kicks off the next-to-last week of the season by steping out of conference play for a clash with Samford... The game marks the home finale at "The Fort" for the Govs

- No. 24 West Georgia (7-3, 4-3 UAC) wraps up its 2025 ledger hosting Utah Tech (2-8, 1-5 UAC)... For the Trailblazers, the contest will be their final road game in UAC play as UTU makes the move to the Big Sky in 2026... The Wolves look to end their second season of DI play with a three-game win streak

- No. 18 Abilene Christian (6-4, 5-1 UAC) carries a two-game win streak into a big road test at Eastern Kentucky (4-6, 2-4 UAC)... The Wildcats seek a win to keep their hopes of repeating as league champions in hand while the Colonels will meet their fourth ranked opponent of the season seeking a second ranked victory

No. 5 Tarleton State (9-1, 5-1 UAC) comes off a bye to welcome North Alabama (2-8, 1-5 UAC)... The Texans are looking to rebound from their first loss of the season two weeks ago with a focus on trying to claim a share of the conference crown and remaining in line to earn a top seed in the FCS playoffs... The Lions seek to snap a three-game skid in their final road contest of the year

- Central Arkansas (3-7, 2-4 UAC) visits Southern Utah (5-5, 4-2 UAC) for the last road trip for the Bears... The road squad has been victorious every time in this limited series... The T-Birds are battling to earn a potential FCS playoff berth and also hold an outside chance of claiming a championship share 

- For a third consecutive season the UAC had a member squad compete in Week 0 on national television as No. 8/10 Tarleton State blanked Portland State, 42-0, on ESPN2. The win marked the first shutout performance for an FCS team in Week 0 history... The league owns a 2-2 mark in Week 0 play

- Heading into the 2025 season, UAC lineups include a trio of players listed on national award watch lists with Tarleton State QB Victor Gabalis named to the Walter Payton Award list along with a pair of defensive standouts, Lando Brown of Southern Utah and Abilene Christian's Will Shaffer, part of the Buck Buchanan Award list... Gabalis (Offensive) and Shaffer (Defensive) were tabbed the preseason Player of the Year choices by the conference coaches.

- In its brief three-year history, UAC Football has already produced THREE FCS over FBS wins: TSU over Army, 30-27 2OT and APSU defeated MTSU, 34-14 this season | SUU topped UTEP, 27-24 OT in 2024... The UAC now boasts THREE wins over a ranked non-conference FCS foe: ACU over #23 SFA, 28-20 and UWG over #22 Nicholls, 34-10 this season | EKU defeated #16 SEMO, 41-38, in 2023... Additionally, the league owns a pair of FCS Playoff wins in 2024 by the Wildcats and Texans
