WEEKLY PREVIEW: Key Standings Games Highlight Saturday Slate

Week 11 includes multiple contests with championship chase consequences

UACFOOTBALL -- United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football heads down the home stretch with a set of four head-to-head league clashes on the docket for Week 11. Seven squads still have the opportunity to earn at least a share of the conference crown with Saturday pitting several squads with their trophy dreams in the balance. 

- Week 10 Recap: In a battle of ranked squads in a "Texas Showdown", No. 24 Abilene Christian edged No. 2 Tarleton State with a last-second field goal, which marked the Texans first loss of the season... Southern Utah collected its second ranked win in the last three weeks behind an explosive second half performance against No. 22 Austin Peay... It took OT, but Utah Tech outlasted North Alabama as the Blazers earned their first league victory... EKU topped longtime rival Central Arkansas on the road keep its title hopes alive

NOTEWORTHY
- In the latest FCS National Rankings, the UAC saw four teams collecting votes in the national polls with the UAC's Texas twosome ranked in the Top 25... Tarleton State slipped to No. 6 (Stats Perform)/ No. 7 (AFCA) after suffering its first loss of the year -  In addition, the Texans were also listed No. 5 in the second and final in-season FCS Championship Committee ranking. With its huge home win over TSU, Abilene Christian climbed up to No. 18 (Stats Perform)/ No. 20 (AFCA)... Both West Georgia and Austin Peay garnered votes in both of the recognized national polls after Week 10

- The day opens with No. 18 Abilene Christian (5-4, 4-1 UAC) looking to build on their thrilling victory last Saturday when they host Utah Tech (2-7, 1-4 UAC), who is also coming off their first dub in league play this year...  The defending champion Wildcats will be playing their final regular season home game on Saturday

- North Alabama (2-7, 1-4 UAC) welcomes a former DII rival in West Georgia (6-3, 3-3 UAC) for a rivalry renewed. The Lions and Wolves will square off for the first time in Florence since 2016 

- Central Arkansas (3-6, 2-3 UAC) hits the road for the penultimate time this season with a latitudinal match-up with Austin Peay (5-4, 3-3 UAC)... The Bears and Govs each need a victory to stay in the conference race

- Southern Utah (4-5, 3-2 UAC), winners of three straight games including a home win over a ranked APSU squad last week, travels across country and two time zones for a key UAC match-up with EKU (4-5, 2-3)... The Colonels are 3-1 at home this season with Saturday marking their next-to-last game game in Richmond for this season

No. 6 Tarleton State (9-1, 5-1 UAC) has the week off as the Texans look to refocus on final two games of the season following their first defeat

- For a third consecutive season the UAC had a member squad compete in Week 0 on national television as No. 8/10 Tarleton State blanked Portland State, 42-0, on ESPN2. The win marked the first shutout performance for an FCS team in Week 0 history... The league owns a 2-2 mark in Week 0 play

- Heading into the 2025 season, UAC lineups include a trio of players listed on national award watch lists with Tarleton State QB Victor Gabalis named to the Walter Payton Award list along with a pair of defensive standouts, Lando Brown of Southern Utah and Abilene Christian's Will Shaffer, part of the Buck Buchanan Award list... Gabalis (Offensive) and Shaffer (Defensive) were tabbed the preseason Player of the Year choices by the conference coaches.

- In its brief three-year history, UAC Football has already produced THREE FCS over FBS wins: TSU over Army, 30-27 2OT and APSU defeated MTSU, 34-14 this season | SUU topped UTEP, 27-24 OT in 2024... The UAC now boasts THREE wins over a ranked non-conference FCS foe: ACU over #23 SFA, 28-20 and UWG over #22 Nicholls, 34-10 this season | EKU defeated #16 SEMO, 41-38, in 2023... Additionally, the league owns a pair of FCS Playoff wins in 2024 by the Wildcats and Texans
