#UACFOOTBALL -- This week's United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football honorees, announced by the league office on Monday, features several players repeating as Player of the Week selections. Austin Peay's Chris Parson earned his third award (Offensive), while Southern Utah's Joshua Dye (Offensive) and West Georgia's Tommy Holden (Specialist) each claimed their second recognitions. The Wolves' David Hoage (Defensive) and Govs' Montreze Smith Jr. (Freshman) captured their first honors to round out the winners list.
Parson, a redshirt-sophomore quarterback, led the Governors to a decisive win over rival UNA amassing 364 yards of total offense and six touchdowns. He completed 17-of-24 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns, with a season-long 79-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Parson also rushed 12 times for 53 yards and three touchdowns, with scoring runs of 37, 10 and 6 yards. He has now posted a rushing touchdown in six-straight games for APSU.
A redshirt-sophomore running back, Dye turned in a season league-leading performance with 204 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries.  Dye averaged an impressive 8.5 yards per attempt and his stellar outing featured a 92-yard touchdown dash. He also caught one pass for 10 yards. Dye currently ranks third in the FCS in total rushing yards with 1,166 and leads all of Division I football with 18 rushing touchdowns.
UWG's senior defensive lineman, Hoage was second on the squad in tackles against Central Arkansas, finishing with nine stops including four solo tackles. Hoage collected a pair of sacks, three TFL and a forced fumble in the Wolves win. Both sacks came in the fourth quarter, aiding West Georgia in its comeback effort that saw the team rally from a 17-6 deficit to start the fourth quarter.
Holden, a senior placekicker, went 2-for-2 on FG, drilling kicks from 33 and 48 yards to help the Wolves top UCA in a closely contested 18-17 decision. He improved to 10-of-12 on field goal kicks this season.
A redshirt freshman linebacker, Smith Jr. led Austin Peay’s defense with a career-high 12 tackles including 10 solo stops. Smith recorded a tackle for loss and snatched a pair of interceptions in the Govs homecoming win over UNA. His 12-tackle, 2-interception performance is the only known double-digit tackle, two-interception game in Austin Peay history. Smith Jr. totaled 49 interception-return yards with runs of 34 and 15 yards after his picks. Last week, Smith Jr. was named to the Jerry Rice Award watch list, which is presented to the top freshman player in the FCS.
