#UACFOOTBALL -- It has been said that to "the Victors go the Spoils" and this week's selections for United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football award winners announced by the league office on Monday definitely reflect that sentiment. Abilene Christian boasted a pair of Player of the Week honorees in Stone Earle (Offensive) and Rashon Myles Jr. (Defensive) while Tarleton State's Corbin Poston (Specialist) and Utah Tech's Asa Chatman (Freshman) rounded out the list of successful performers.
Earle, a redshirt-senior quarterback for ACU, set a new career-high in passing yards for the third consecutive week and accounted for six total touchdowns in his squad's league opening victory. He finished the contest 30-of-42 passing for a UAC season-high 339 yards with 4 TD passes. Earle carried the ball four times for 46 yards and another 2 TDs. In the win, he had a 55-yard touchdown throw and a 35-yard rushing score.
A redshirt junior linebacker, Myles Jr., had 6 tackles, a pass breakup and recovered three fumbles in the Wildcat win. All three of his recoveries came in the first half as ACU built a 24-3 lead over Austin Peay. In addition to being the league Player of the Week, Myles Jr., collected the Stats Perform FCS National Player of the Week honor for his performance.
Poston, the Texans' junior kicker, drilled a pair of long field goals on Saturday in a perfect 2-for-2 performance that was part of a dominating win. He made one from 50 yards and the other from 49 yards, which were the two longest field goals made in the league on the day. He also booted seven of his 10 kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks with the kicks covering 608 yards (60.8 yd avg). Poston is the only kicker across all of the FCS to make two field goals from 49+ yards in a single game this season.
A redshirt-freshman running back for the Trailblazers, Chatman posted career highs with 12 carries for 97 yards, highlighted by a 66-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. His 66-yard scamper marked a career long run and helped lead UTU to its first victory of the season. The scoring run was just the second touchdown of the Lake Elsinore, Calif., native's career.
