Football 4/28/2026 7:53:28 AM ACU's Javon Gipson Receives Rookie Minicamp Invite to New Orleans Saints Abilene Christian’s Javon Gipson has received an invitation to the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp, the program announced Monday. Gipson, a receiver for the Wildcats, played in 26 games over two seasons where he totaled 1,357 receiving yards on 87 catches while scoring eight times. The Richmond, Texas native had a massive 2025 season where he became just the third player in ACU’s Division I era to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in a season. Gipson finished the season with 64 catches for 1,022 yards and six touchdowns. In his final season with the Wildcats, Gipson helped ACU push to win the United Athletic Conference title with three consecutive 100-yard games, the first ACU player to accomplish this feat since Taylor Gabriel in 2011. His performance led Abilene Christian to advance to the second round of the FCS Playoffs for a second straight season. The New Orleans Saints are coming off a 6-11 season where they finished fourth in the NFC South. Despite a rough start of the season, the Saints strung together four consecutive weeks (Week 14-17) with wins over Tampa Bay, Carolina, the New York Jets and Tennessee.
